People first
Judge policy by how it protects people and supports a fair, navigable path to recovery.
About the Institute
The American Institute for Identity Safety is developing a nonpartisan policy agenda that puts victim restoration at the center of identity safety.
Our mission
Our mission is to advance public policy, national identity security, and scam protection, with particular attention to children, older adults, and other vulnerable populations.
Identity connects people to opportunity, services, relationships, and public life. When it is misused, the response should help people regain control.
Public policy leads our launch, beginning with proposed reforms to victim restoration. Our broader mission connects that work to national identity security and scam protection. Deepfake impersonation, the authority of AI agents, and accountable uses of AI cut across the mission.
Our approach
Judge policy by how it protects people and supports a fair, navigable path to recovery.
Focus on the public interest and constructive policy ideas across political perspectives.
Consider privacy, accessibility, and meaningful ways to challenge errors alongside security.
